Painting Mediums & Varnishes

Chromacryl Textile Medium is great to use for printing or free-hand painting on fabric. Add one part Chromacryl Textile Medium & two parts paint, to convert your acrylic paint into an immediate and washable textile & fabric paint. Paint your image, heat set with an iron and then wash to release the acrylic binder.

Chromacryl Texture Paste is a brushable, translucent modeling compound ideal for multiple texturing methods with acrylic paint. Dries to a clear finish and will not become brittle or discolour with age. Chromacryl Texture Paste cleans up with cold, soapy water.

Derivan Cracking Medium, when sandwiched between two layers of Matisse Background Colours, creates a cracked & weathered look. Derivan Cracking Medium is water-based and may not perform as well with other brands of paint.

Derivan Gesso Primer gives an excellent tooth for easy paint manipulation.

Suitable for use on canvas, board and paper, Derivan Gesso Primer is a water-based product and able to be thinned down if desired.

Derivan Impasto Medium is a full-bodied texture paste and modelling compound that dries to a water-resistant, low subdued sheen which is similar to the sheen on a dried paint film of Matisse Acrylic Paint.  Although Derivan Impasto Medium is not fully transparent when dry, it will not alter the richness of colours substantially.

Derivan Polymer Gloss Varnish is versatile, ideal for use as a glue for paper and as a varnish in collages. When intermixed with colour, Derivan Polymer Gloss Varnish increases gloss and flow characteristics. Derivan Polymer Gloss Varnish is water-based and may appear slightly milky when wet.

Derivan Print Gel can be mixed with acrylic colours to keep paint wet & from clogging the screen mesh. For use on paper, board or fabric (in conjunction with a fabric fixative), Derivan Printing Gel increases colour transparency while also being suitable for use as a craft glue.

Derivan Spreader is a transparent, flowing paste which is hardly discernible when dry. Imparting fine flow, controlled spreadability & lubrication, Derivan Spreader is primarily used for glazing and spreading large volumes of colour.

This medium is water-based. Mix equal parts of medium to paint and stir thoroughly to combine.

Global Pouring Medium 2 Litre is a high-gloss, self-levelling medium great for creating a marble effect using pouring techniques.

Non-yellowing, water-resistant and flexible, it will not add transparency when mixed with paints. The medium is milky white when wet, but will become transparent when dry. This pouring medium may also be used as a varnish.

May be used by pouring the medium directly on to the canvas or mixed with acrylic paint before pouring on the canvas. Mix well and cover the entire canvas to prevent cracks. Do not dilute the pouring medium and allow to dry for 48 hours.
